Where the journey started
Afterwork at the Blacksmith brewery
It all started about a year ago, when we gathered at the Blacksmith Brewery in Ittre for a fun afterwork introduction to beer brewing.
That’s where the idea was born: why not create a Catalay beer of our own?
Together with the Gold Club, a group of consultants celebrating 5+ years at Catalay, we took on the challenge and brought the idea to life.

When the beer came to life

Discovering the basics
First, the team received a brief presentation from the Blacksmith brewery, covering the brewing process, the ingredients used, the different types of hops, and more.

Testing our taste buds
The team then took part in a sensory challenge, identifying aromas and flavours like banana, green tea, coffee, and toasted bread, along with tastes from bitter to sweet. They also had to recognise different grains and flours, including wheat malt, spelt, oats, and wheat.

Finding the right name
The team came together to brainstorm a name everyone could stand behind. In the end, they chose a name that was both simple and memorable: The Catalay Beer.
